DUI Arrests Recently Decided to Negatively Affect Immigration Bond Proceedings

The Board of Immigration Appeals recently decided that “Driving Under the Influence” (DUI) arrests or convictions are a “significant adverse consideration” in determining whether an immigrant is a danger to the community in immigration bond proceedings. The Board further noted that family and community ties generally do not mitigate an immigrant’s dangerousness. See Matter of Siniauskas, 27 I&N Dec. 207
